Our Wee Story
Nestled in the heart of the Scottish Highlands, The Wee Knoll is more than just a cabin – it’s a place built on family history, heritage, and a whole lot of love.
Proudly owned by Catherine and Archie, The Wee Knoll stands on land that has been part of Archie’s family story for generations. Around 70 years ago, Archie’s grandfather lived here and owned the surrounding ground. Years later, when the opportunity came to bring part of that land back into the family, it marked the beginning of something truly special.
From that proud family connection came both the family home, Bracknoll, and eventually The Wee Knoll – a cosy Highland retreat created to share the beauty, peace, and history of this place with others.
But Why ‘The Wee Knoll’?
The name reaches back to Archie’s grandfather, affectionately known as “The Bomber,” who always referred to the hill here as “the Knoll.” The nearby family home, Bracknoll, shares the same roots, with “brack” also nodding to the bracken that once covered the hillside surrounding the property.
There’s also a quieter family touch woven into the name Bracknoll itself – the initials of Ben, Rebecca, Archie, and Catherine (Katherine) – making it a lasting symbol of both past and present generations.
We like to think that The Wee Knoll offers more than just a place to stay. It’s a place to slow down, reconnect, and experience the quiet magic of the Highlands – whether that’s watching the changing skies from the window, enjoying peaceful mornings with a coffee in hand, or simply escaping the rush of everyday life.
For us, The Wee Knoll is about sharing a place that means so much to our family, and creating a space where others can make special memories of their own.
